Six Hours After Landing in Australia, Marcus Already Had a Job

One of the questions parents ask me most often is:

"Will my child be okay when they arrive in Australia?"

It's a question that goes far beyond university.

Parents wonder whether their child will settle in, make friends, find work, build confidence and feel supported while living overseas.

That's why Marcus' story means so much to me.

A Fantastic Start Before He Even Landed

Marcus completed the Academy of Entrepreneurs Diploma before applying to university.

Through the Diploma, he received:

  • Direct entry into the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

  • Six months of university credit.

  • A 20% scholarship.

  • Savings of more than AUD $90,000 in tuition fees and living expenses by avoiding Foundation Studies, graduating sooner and reducing overall study costs.

But this isn't actually the best part of the story.

Marcus landed in Sydney at around 6:00 am.

As luck would have it, I was also in Sydney that day, so his wonderful family invited me to lunch before he settled into university life.

During lunch, Marcus asked me a simple question.

"Paula, do you think you could help me find a part-time job?"

Of course.

As we were chatting, I asked our waiter whether the restaurant happened to be hiring.

He smiled.

"Actually... yes."

By the end of that afternoon, Marcus had been offered a job.

Just six hours after arriving in Australia.

Why This Story Matters

No, this isn't Marcus' dream career.

And that's exactly the point.

This first role gives him something incredibly valuable:

  • Australian work experience.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Confidence.

  • Professional references.

  • Financial independence.

It's the first stepping stone.

Our plan is to help Marcus build experience over the coming months before introducing him to opportunities within our wider Academy of Entrepreneurs network.

The next goal?

A position in a five-star hotel where he'll gain even stronger professional experience.

After that, we'd love to help connect him with companies in logistics and supply chain, because Marcus' long-term dream is to build a career with a global organisation like Amazon (where we have a lot of connections at)

That's mentorship.

Not just getting students into Australia.

Helping them grow while they're here.

We Stay With Our Students

Many education providers celebrate when students receive their university offer.

We celebrate when they build successful lives.

Our team continues supporting students with mentoring, professional introductions, career guidance and practical advice long after classes finish.

That's something we're incredibly proud of.

Education Is Only the Beginning

The Academy of Entrepreneurs has never been just about teaching entrepreneurship.

It's about helping young people become confident, capable and connected.

University is one milestone.

Employment is another.

Leadership is another.

Our role is to help students navigate all of them.

Because the goal isn't simply studying in Australia.

The goal is creating a future they'll be proud of and we'll be cheering them on every step of the way.
