Celebrating Young Voices at the Lomba Debat Indonesia Regional Level in Gowa

On 23 May, the Academy of Entrepreneurs had the honour of being invited to take part in the Lomba Debat Indonesia tingkat Kabupaten Gowa, a regional-level debate competition that brought together some of the most promising young speakers from across the region.

Representing the Academy of Entrepreneurs, Gurpreet Kaur, also known as Sonia, was invited to serve as a judge for the English debate category. It was a meaningful opportunity not only to witness the students’ communication skills and critical thinking, but also to connect with educators, school representatives, and the wider education community in Gowa.

A Stage for Confidence, Critical Thinking, and Courage

The competition brought together four outstanding teams, including SMA Negeri 5 Gowa, SMA Negeri 2 Gowa, SMA Al-Fityan, and SMA Arifah. Each team came prepared with strong arguments, thoughtful perspectives, and impressive confidence on stage.

From the very beginning, the atmosphere was filled with energy. The debate rounds were intense, engaging, and full of sharp ideas. Students were challenged not only to speak in English, but also to think quickly, respond strategically, and defend their positions with clarity and confidence.

For AE, this was a beautiful reminder of how powerful debate can be as a learning platform. It is not simply about winning or losing. It is about learning how to speak with purpose, listen actively, respect different perspectives, and build the courage to express ideas in front of others.

A Fierce and Inspiring Competition

Throughout the competition, the students showed remarkable potential. Each team brought its own strengths, from confident delivery and strong teamwork to thoughtful reasoning and creative rebuttals. The competition was competitive, but it was also full of respect and sportsmanship.

After a series of exciting debate rounds, the selected representatives were chosen to move forward and represent Kabupaten Gowa at the next stage. This achievement is a proud moment not only for the students, but also for their schools, teachers, and the education community who have supported them along the way.

A huge congratulations to all participating teams and especially to the students who will carry Gowa’s name forward. Your hard work, courage, and dedication truly deserve to be celebrated.

Strengthening Friendship with the Education Community in Gowa

Beyond the competition itself, this event was also a meaningful moment of silaturahmi. AE was grateful for the opportunity to meet and connect with the education leaders, teachers, and MGMP English community who continue to support students in developing their talents.

The Academy of Entrepreneurs would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Cabang Dinas Pendidikan Wilayah Gowa and the MGMP English teachers for the warm invitation and trust. We are truly honoured to have been part of this important event and to witness first-hand the passion and dedication of educators in Gowa.

Looking Forward

At AE, we believe that young people should be given more spaces to express themselves, sharpen their thinking, and grow their confidence. Events like Lomba Debat Indonesia are an important reminder that students in South Sulawesi have incredible potential when they are given the platform to shine.

We are proud to have been part of this journey, and we look forward to seeing the selected representatives continue to grow, compete, and inspire others at the next level.

Congratulations once again to all students, teachers, and schools involved. Gowa’s future voices are bright, brave, and ready to be heard.
